This week- 6th Feb

We have spent the last few days with a Marantz and microphone hunting SFX for our Drama.

SFX include;

  • Footsteps
  • Different television channels
  • Coat zips
  • Traffic
  • Mobile phone beeps
  • Household sounds; plates clattering, microwave, washing up, chair drag.
  • WII sounds
  • Crisp packets
  • Fizzy pop pouring.

We recorded the daily tasks of a household to make the SFX authentic. Click below to hear a sample:

Auditions

We need four main characters, Georgia(Gretel), Harry (Hansel), Mother and Witch. This week we have been in contact with several potential actors. Using starnow.com we listened to audio clips of actors and Brian sent them an email explaining our drama. We asked them if they are interested could they attend our audition days Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th.

For planning we arranged to set up the studio 30minutes before the arrival of the actors as we wanted to record the auditions. Brian printed the consent forms which if the children are under 16 their parent/guardian have to sign, and Brian printed extra scripts.

The auditions gave us a chance to choose actors on how they can deliver our script as a radio drama. We had  seven people come to audition, the decision of who we will choose was difficult. To decide we re-played the auditions, matching different actors together to see who sounded best matched together.

Below is a sample of the actors we chose.
